Open Access in Publishing

For some time there have been very interesting attempts to distribute scientific results more widely among interested parties. Many publishers now support open access and thus make your work more accessible to people. Still, to our knowledge, three well-respected publishers adhering to professional scientific standards stand out in the biomedical sciences: the Public Library of Science (PLOS), BioMed Central, and eLife.

We support these efforts. Please consider sending your next publication to an open access journal. Further information can be found at the respective websites.

Furthermore there are additional initiatives that intend to facilitate the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
